The word “cardinal” is derived from the Latin word “cardinalis”, which means “serving as a hinge”. Many cultures consider cardinals to be a connection - “the hinge” - between the physical and spiritual realms. There are many people who believe that cardinals are the spirits of loved visiting those they’ve left behind. “When cardinals appear, a loved one is near.” Whether taken literally or figuratively, cardinals are a significant reminder that the people we love are always with us in spirit.
