Lincoln, Nebraska
12” x 16”; Acrylic on board; 2013
(Available in print only.)
In 2012, my husband and I (and our two dogs, most of our belongings, and enough books to stock a library) set off for a road-trip across the country to spend six months living in British Columbia. We camped along the way. Our first stop was Lincoln, Nebraska. I didn’t have high expectations for Lincoln, assuming it simply be a place to sleep for a night. But when we pulled into the campground, I was amazed by the beauty of the place. That sunset will forever remain imprinted in my mind. I remember watching the blazing colors stretching across the sky and feeling full of possibility and wondering what the next 6 months would hold. Lincoln will always be a reminder to me that beauty can be found in the most unassuming places; we just have to be there to see it.
