Tahoe
11” x 24”; Acrylic on board; 2012
(Available in print only.)
While on a road trip to Canada, we stopped along the way to camp each night. One of our stops was Lake Tahoe. I was driving on one of those terrifyingly twisty mountain roads, knuckles white on the wheel, my stomach in my throat, convinced I was going to veer off a cliff to my demise. Suddenly, I drove around a curve and there was this wide expansive view of Lake Tahoe, the clear teal water glittering in the sunlight. It took my breath away. We stayed in a cabin that night - which, after days of waking up on a deflated air mattress, my butt scraping the freezing cold ground and two dogs piled on top of me - felt like the ultimate luxury. I remember staring out the bedroom window that night to a crystal clear view of the moon, and sinking into a peaceful sleep.
